Papertray

Your list. Their list. One calm place.

On the web, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android, in five languages. The demo runs in your browser, no account needed.

Go on, tick something off. The phone and the rings below keep up.

The short version

Built for one.
Ready for more.

Share a project.
Or a whole area.

Invite someone by email to one project, like the kitchen, or to an area that holds several. Everything else stays yours.

From your phone to their Mac in about1

5sec

Tick it on the bus. It's ticked on the kitchen laptop.

Plan together with up to

25people

on Team. Two is fine too.

A view for every kind of when.

Inbox for whatever just occurred to you. Today for now. Upcoming and the Calendar for anything with a date. Someday for the rest. Logbook remembers what you finished.

Speaks your language, in

5languages

English, Português, Español, Français and Deutsch.

Learn it by doing it.

No slideshow on day one. A short walkthrough has you make your first area, a project inside it, a few to-dos and a date, then tick one off. By the end, it's your list, not an example.

Calendar

See the month.
Move the week.

Every dated to-do on one page, with the day you pick beside it. Drag a to-do to another day and it moves. Type “14:30 Call Ana” and it gets a time.

Drag a to-do onto another day. Click a day to see it on the right.

Rings, not dots

If it fills up,
it means something.

Every ring in Papertray is a count of real to-dos. A full ring is a finished project. It's the only decoration we allow ourselves. This one is the kitchen, from the laptop above.

38%
3 of 8 to-dos

Assign

Hand it off.
To someone who can see it.

Give any to-do to a person on the project. Papertray only lists people who already have access, so nothing lands with someone who can't open it.

See it in the demo

The small things

Quick in the hands.
Quiet on the eyes.

Select a few. Or forty.

Drag a box over to-dos, or Shift- and Cmd-click them. Right-click and the date, repeat, move and delete apply to all of them at once.

Undo means undo.

Every change you type can be taken back, one step at a time, to exactly the text it was. And brought back again.

Repeats that fit real life.

On a schedule, or a set time after you last did it. Tick it off and the next one is already waiting.

Edit where it is.

Double-click anywhere on a to-do to change it. Paste replaces what you selected, like everywhere else on your computer.

One menu for when.

The date menu also holds Repeat, Someday and, in shared projects, who it's for. Fewer places to look.

No pop-ups on your phone.

Tap +, type, press Enter for the next line. The keyboard stays up until you're done. Areas fold away in the sidebar when you don't need them.

Five icon styles.
One calm app.

Everywhere

Start on your phone.
Finish on your Mac.

Web

Any browser on Windows, Linux, Android or a Chromebook. Nothing to install, so anyone can join a shared project.

iPhone and iPad

Add it to your Home Screen from Safari. It opens full screen, and a swipe left on a to-do shows its actions.

Mac

A desktop app in its own window, with a sidebar you can resize. Same lists, same people.

How we build it

A few things
we won't change.

Your list is yours.

Nothing is shared until you share it, one project or one area at a time. You can see who's in from the faces at the top.

No forms to fill in.

Click into a list and type. Enter saves and starts the next line. Click a to-do to rename it where it is.

Calm beats clever.

No streaks, no badges, no points. The list, the date it's due, the person it's for, and a ring that tells the truth.

We don't read your to-dos.

We count visits and devices so we can improve the app. What you write is never part of it.

Questions

Asked and answered.

What is Papertray?

Papertray is a to-do app for you and the people you share your life or work with. You keep your own lists in an Inbox, Today, Upcoming, Anytime, Someday and a Logbook, organised into areas and projects, plan your days on a calendar, and share any single project or area with other people, assign to-dos to them and see progress fill up as a ring.

Is Papertray free?

Yes. The Free plan has every view, the calendar, unlimited projects and areas, sync across your devices, and sharing with one other person. Pro costs $4 (€4 in the EU, VAT included) per person per month and lets you share with up to 5 people, use unlimited shared areas, assign to-dos and build your own theme. Team, for up to 25 people with admin controls and an activity log, is priced on request. Every new account gets 14 days of Pro, no card needed.

Can I share a to-do list with my partner, family or team?

Yes, that is what Papertray is for. Invite someone by email or with an invite link to one project, like a kitchen renovation, or to a whole area that holds several projects. Everyone with access can add, edit and tick off to-dos, and everything you haven't shared stays private to you.

Does Papertray have a calendar?

Yes. The Calendar shows the whole month with the day you pick beside it. Click + on a day, or double-click it, and type: “14:30 Call Ana” adds the to-do with its time. Drag a to-do to another day to move it.

Does Papertray work with Google Tasks, Reclaim or Claude?

Yes. Google Tasks syncs both ways, so ticking a to-do off in Papertray ticks it off in Google Tasks too. Reclaim connects through Google Tasks and finds time in your calendar for your to-dos. And you can add Papertray to Claude as a connector, then ask Claude what's on your Today or have it add to-dos for you.

Can I bring my to-dos from Todoist, TickTick or Things?

Yes. Todoist moves over in one go with your API token: projects, sections, labels, dates and repeats. You can also import a TickTick backup, a Trello board, a Google Takeout export, any spreadsheet saved as CSV, or simply paste a list, one to-do per line.

Which devices does Papertray work on?

Papertray runs in any modern browser, so it works on Windows, Linux, Android and Chromebooks as well as Apple devices. On iPhone and iPad you add it to your Home Screen from Safari and it opens full screen; on Android you install it from Chrome; on the Mac it runs in its own window. Changes reach your other signed-in devices within about five seconds.

How is Papertray different from Things?

If you have used Things, Papertray will feel familiar: an Inbox, Today, Upcoming, Anytime, Someday and a Logbook, with areas, projects and headings. The difference is sharing. Things is a personal app for Apple devices, while Papertray lets you share projects and areas with other people, assign to-dos to them, and use it in any browser on any device. More in Papertray vs Things 3.

Can I try Papertray without an account?

Yes. The demo runs in your browser with example projects, so you can tick things off and look around without signing up.

Which languages is Papertray available in?

English, Portuguese (Portugal), Spanish, French and German.

Is my data private?

Your lists are stored in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). Papertray has no ads, never sells your data, and never uses your to-dos to train AI. Usage statistics never include the text of your to-dos, and you can turn them off in Settings.
